One of my predecessors in the pastorate was a grandson of the great Emil Kautzsch, one of the first translators of apocrypha and pseudepigrapha in Germany more than 100 years ago. He wanted people to read the texts, and many did and knew very well. Not so today: even “Bible - Christians” have not read one single line, and that is really too bad. After having published a navigator to OT and NT apocrypha and pseudepigrapha, I will do now the same with neoapocrypha and modern gospels which are the subject of this book – I want to help spreading “the word” by helping readers to find freely available texts they can enjoy. I am convinced reading such material will provide much “cleansing work” in the mind of the reader in order to learn thinking in a more stringent, clear and restrained manner. This might help getting closer to “my own and personal thinking and guessing” when it comes to very deep questions on life, death, love, meaning, sense, God and the spiritual realm (as we use to say today). Ich habe viele moderne Apokryphen, auch “Neoapokryphen” genannt, also Neuapokryphen, gesammelt, und etliche von ihnen können im Internet in englischer Sprache gefunden werden, wenn auch längst nicht alle. Mit deutschen Übersetzungen im World Wide Web sieht es dagegen mehr als traurig aus – man findet recht wenig Stoff. Ich lese solche Texte schon seit vielen Jahren, und ich bin im tiefsten Maße dankbar für die wundervollen Menschen, die beides, antike und moderne Apokryphen und Pseudepigraphen, ins Netz gestellt haben, um solch außergewöhnliches Material der Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung zu stellen. Meiner Meinung nach gehören solche Texte, obgleich manches unvollständig und sogar verloren scheint, zum Erstaunlichsten und Aufregendsten, was menschliche Geister und Seelen je geschaffen haben in der Geschichte. Freilich bin ich mir sehr bewusst über unheilige Einflüsse von Religionen als Phänomen mit vielen verschiedenen Gesichtern. Jedoch ist das Studium von Quellen religiöser und spiritueller Phänomene ein äußerst aufregendes Geschäft, offenbart es doch tiefe und bewegende mentale Prozesse zwischen Liebe, Hass, Ignoranz und Hoffnung. Im weitesten Sinne ist der Komplex „heilige Schriften“ wie ein Besuch Nordschwedens mit seinem rauen Wetter und seiner rauen Natur (ich war oft dort, und Einheimische haben es mir oft erzählt): entweder du liebst es auf Anhieb und kommst wieder, oder du bist enttäuscht von Anfang an, fühlst dich unwohl und wirst nie wieder hinfahren. Einer meiner Vorgänger in einem Pfarramt war der Enkel des großen Emil Kautzsch, einem der ersten Übersetzer von Apokryphen und Pseudepigraphen in Deutschland vor über hundert Jahren. Er wollte Leute dazu bewegen, die Texte zu lesen. Viele haben es getan und kannten sich aus. Anders ist es heute: sogar “Bibelchristen” haben es versäumt, auch nur eine Zeile zu lesen, und das erscheint mehr als traurig. Nach der Veöffentlichung meines Buches „Extrabiblische Schriften: Alt – und Neutestamentliche Apokryphen und Pseudepigraphen“ gedenke ich nun ähnliches zu tun mit einer Sammlung von Neoapokryphen und modernen Evangelien – ich möchte einfach, dass sich „das Wort verbreitet“, indem ich Lesern dabei helfe, im großen Internet frei lesbare Texte zur Freude zu finden. Ich bin überzeugt, dass im Lesen solchen Materials eine Art “Reingungswerk” im Geist des Lesers stattfindet, damit er angetrieben werde, stringenter, klarer und in mehr zurückhaltender Manier zu denken. Vielleicht ist gerade dies eine gute Hilfe, näher zu „meinem eigenen und persönlichen Denken und Mutmaßen“ zu kommen, wenn es um die sehr tiefen Fragen nach Leben, Tod, Liebe, Bedeutung, Sinn, Gott und das Reich des Spirituellen (wie wir heute zu sagen pflegen) geht.
