Ein Trupp amerikanischer Soldaten war bei der Invasion in der Normandie beteiligt. Als sie angegriffen wurden und ihr Zugführer, mit samt, seines mitgeführten Kartenmaterials, von einer Granate zerrissen wurde, waren sie orientierungslos und irrten planlos umher. So gelangten sie beim Straßenkampf in eine enge Gasse, wo sie in der Falle saßen. Vor ihnen war ein deutsches MG-Nest, das sie aber noch nicht bemerkt hatte, und hinter ihnen kam ein deutscher Panzer diese enge Gasse herunter. Verzweifelt versuchten sie zu flüchten, als sie von dem Panzerschützen entdeckt wurden und er eine Granate abfeuerte. Als der Anführer dieser Gruppe kurze Zeit später wieder erwachte, glaubte er, in Afrika zu sein. Nur kam es ihm komisch vor, denn der Sand war grün. Plötzlich meldete sich eine Stimme, die ihm erklärte, dass er sich mit seiner Gruppe auf dem Planeten Durlac befinde, wo er und seine Männer zum Kampf gegen die dortigen Monster eingesetzt würden. Sie bekamen die nötigen Waffen und die Ausrüstung und wurden jeden Tag auf Patrouille geschickt, wo sie immer auf gefährliche Monster trafen, die sie töten mussten. Dabei entwickelten sie immer bessere Waffen, die sie dann auch von den Außerirdischen zu ihrer Verfügung gestellt bekamen. Dabei machten sie eine unheimliche Entdeckung, wie sie diese Monster wirksam bekämpfen konnten. Sie entwickelten dabei eine besondere Kampftechnik, die sehr erfolgreich war, sodass die Außerirdischen ihnen sehr dankbar waren und sie mit allerlei Vergünstigungen belohnten. Als die Waffen immer besser wurden, wurden sie auf einen anderen Planeten versetzt, wo sie nicht mehr gegen Monster, sondern gegen Menschen kämpfen mussten, die als Aggressoren diesen Planeten besetzt hatten. Was sie alles auf dem Planeten Durlac erlebten, als sie gegen Monster kämpften und welche Waffen sie entwickelt hatten, mit denen sie dann gegen andere Menschen kämpfen mussten, und wie dankbar die Außerirdischen ihnen waren, das können sie hier in dieser Science-Fiction-Geschichte lesen.
