Thank you! So few people here seem to be Zelda fans; I was thinking of taking the book down because no one was reading it. I look forward to your comments - these books are my attempt at giving the characters a three-dimensional life, kind of like a live-action movie version, lol. Thanks so much for adding them to your Favorites. Hope you enjoy reading these as much as I did writing them. I'm almost finished with "Key Quest: Water and Time," but most of it is done. I'll be adding the end to that one soon.

I'm almost speechless! Wow! I'd all but given up on that Zelda fan-fic series, thinking only one or two people on the site had ever played it, and it therefore was a lot of silly self-indulgence. I'm still working on one of them - the third, maybe? Not sure. It might even be the second. But yeah, I'd pretty much stopped adding to it. Guess I can continue, then? I'm so blown away by your kind comments and even though I'm sitting here typing, my feet are doing odd happy-dance motions under the table, lol!

If you do get the chance to read the MacDara books (I just finished posting Book III like yesterday), and you like them, please ask your friends to check them out. The first two are for sale as both paperbacks and Kindle editions. In fact, if any of them buy a copy, tell them I'll pay for them to ship them to me to sign and return. If I like the MacDara Chronicles---which I'm sure I will---I will most definitely recommend it to others. In fact, I will probably recommend it to the librarians at my school (whom I am friends with) too. :)

Thank you so much! You have no idea how delightful it is to hear this! I had pretty much given up on anyone reading it, much less appreciating it in terms of the game and its wonderful characters - you're awesome!

You know, the great thing about fan-fiction is that everyone has a slightly different perspective, whether it's for a movie, book series, or even games like the Zelda series. I don't think you'd be stealing anything by doing your own, and in fact, I'd love to see your take on it. Basically, I'm simply going through the entire game as if playing it, but doing so with personalities and a back-story to make Link and the rest more three-dimensional.

So if you want to give it a shot, I'll bet - based on how well you write - that you could come up with a great version of it.

I still feel like it's already perfect the way you did it. Unfortunately, my idea was to do much the same; add personalities. And I wouldn't want to take your idea. Maybe I'll do the Twilight Princess instead...

Wow, thank you! I was beginning to think no one would read it, much less like it. Not many players of the game are around these days, I'm afraid.

The reason it reminds you of the beginning is because it is. I literally took the game and turned it into a story, giving Link a personality and backstory, explaining who the Kokiri are, etc. As you go along, you'll see that I'm basically playing the entire game, but in story-form. Because of that, I'm able to add dialogue and explanations for everything Link experiences on his adventure.

I'm so glad you're enjoying it! The next one is called "Key Quest" and begins when Link finally leaves the Kokiri Forest to start looking for the other two stones.

That's so cool.... It's been a while since I've played the game but every time I think about it I remember it as clear as I day and this just helps bring back memories and once I finish reading this one I'm going to start reading the next one.... Can't wait

Just saw this, John - thank you! I haven't checked the page here for a while; it seems nobody was really interested other than Pat and Stephen. Well, and me, of course. I honestly think I'm having more fun writing it than anyone is having reading it, but then you say you enjoyed it so far. Wow. You just gave me a big grin! There's a sequel to it, too, that I'm working on (I've posted a number of chapters and am working on the rest - up two Chapter Nineteen or so).

A little of both - I'll write what I recall (I must have played this one at least eighty times), then take a peek at the walkthrough to make sure I haven't misremembered or omitted something. I also loved the Master Quest version and considered adding elements of that one, but decided to stick with the simpler form. The story line is more basic, which gives me a bit more time for character development.

As with all good fantasy adventures, you’ve created wonderful characters, and set them in a very imaginative land. I loved the Kokiri forest. Names as well as description are so important, and Kokiri has a sonorous ring to it! The Great Deku Tree. Wow…he had problems, and I’m anxious to see his “rebirth” after Link sadly left him to undertake part 2 of his mission.
This book, or portion of, once again shows me your vivid and extremely well-honed imagination and mastery of craft. A must read for kids and adults alike!

My kids played those - I never liked the one-dimensional quality of the earlier versions, and found that Link to be almost too heroic for a little guy. Still, you couldn't help falling in love with him, lol! But you're right. The story lines are extremely well-conceived for a video game! The Link in Ocarina intrigued me more than the others, though. He seemed more vulnerable if you looked beyond the limits of the game itself and saw him as someone real. That's why I chose this version of game for the story, I think. Anyway, thanks for checking the story out - and it's great to meet a fellow-Zelda fan! 'D
