I thoroughly enjoy your writing and understand what you say completely. You are a much better writer than I am because you explain yourself so well, very well. I wish I had that ability. Plus your writing is like a song. It’s like poetry in motion, simply beautiful.
If I were to analyze your style it is filled with emotion, wonderful emotion. But also, as with all elements (earth, wind, fire and water) there needs to be balance. Maybe I say this from a standard way of writing and not from the poetic prose of poetry. You certainly don’t need my misdirection. So forgive me should my opinion be wrong.
As in a Japanese garden there are textures purposefully layered to create a peaceful and serene harmony. The meandering paths change as one walks through the garden. A new and colorful view is revealed at every twist and turn. That’s not to say written emotion is particularly searching for serenity, but it would seem that human nature does search for harmony in one’s quest. Perhaps too much emotion (Ack! Said by a romance writer) runs into a lack of balance. Our ability to sense and feel the world is intangible so to speak. And in my opinion so is the realization of fear. Fear is to be conquered which only makes us stronger. And granted these emotions are certainly palpable, and tactile if you will. They make the heart race and the skin respond.
But perhaps after a long stretch of continued emotion the writer could interject a dusting of earthiness. Only to make it stronger. We need to know the character does step upon firm terra cotta once in a while. We need to know that they come down to earth and experience things from a level of humanity.
As with a painting there are lowlights and highlights to make the subject matter stand out. Or in music there is bass and treble to compliment the composure. I love your writing. It’s like walking through the movement of a watercolor painting. Can’t wait to read more…
