Today, November 15th, is my son’s birthday and also the start of the contest of our dreams!!! The opportunity to be published!!

I am sure everyone is very excited and eager to have their books read, as am I.
I will only write once to you, as I feel that badgering people is very annoying.

Below are portions, per the contest’s requirements, of two books that I would love to see published.

I have finished “Second Chances”, but have... Show more

I am sitting here; as are we all; putting my dreams in your hands. I am trying my hardest at this publishing contest and the only thing it takes from you is a few seconds out of your bookrix time to read my short excerpt and then vote. Of course, you are not obligated to but I hope you will. Some may sigh at this message and move on, some may not even read it at all, but those of you that take the time to do this for me you... Show more

When writing a fiction agents and publishers expect it to be already done before you start enquiring their attention. A 100k wordcount and above seems scary to them but yet it is extremely hard to have a novella published here in the states! So they want it done, but not too lengthy, but then it can't be considered a novella either?! My book is roughly 110k and I was told by another site like this one that it is too long and... Show more

Okay so what you need to do is keep focused on your vision and make sure you sell it properly in your query letter when you send your submissions package in. The letter is where you sell yourself long enough to get them to read the manuscript or at least a synopsis so you have... Show more

Ya I know all about the Query letter and Synopsis process. I've already started an dbeen down that road for a bit now! lol But thanks for the input.

Well I know that you can download your book here, no matter how long it is.
As for those agents, I say keep on looking until you find agents who are happy with your book being as long as it is.

I just posted a partial of my (110k wordcount) book The Guardian on here and would love to hear what fellow paranormal romance and youg adult paranormal book lovers think. I know it is by no means perfect but I love my story as do we all (in loving our own stories). I have a small fan base already amongst a few close friends and family members but I just really wanted to share it with as many people as possible. I hope ya'll like it.

One can learn so much doing research. There are books with more info. I loved the movie too, but they tend to change reality for the entertainment business.

You're wonderful Cavlaster. i appreciate ur contribution. But really, i may love this films, the myths and it's legends, but never should one allow intractability of a story overwhelm his/her emotions.

I think the reason why I write such long books isn't just because I fail to run out of ideas to keep the story propelling itself further; I sometimes have difficulty knowing when to end a story. Does anyone out there know what it means to bring a story to an end? When do you know the story is over in terms of completing the pleasure of reading a book? I know there is a beginning, a middle, and an end. What I sometimes have... Show more

It's not HOW you end it what is important, but WHERE you end it. The readers don't what to be caught off guard, and end up saying dissatisfied, "Is that it?" Nor do you want your readers to have been dragged during a tale to give a cheap and lame ending. Many use Epilogues. We... Show more

I'll hang on in there then. :)

Sounds to me like you are well on your way to the 100,000+ words book writer. Once 100,000 words comes with ease writing more than that is a peace of cake once you assassinate publishing tradition that demands you keep your writing within their budget. If a writer listened to... Show more

Hi there,

Seems you are far more experienced with publishers that this humble writer. I get all the hard work done of writing a novel and then fall down at the end - I never push it hard enough. Please teach me.

Hi! I'm Marion and I like to write until the story reaches the end which usually takes two or three novels in a series to paint the picture, the people, and the worlds they exist in. I can write forever if I allow myself. I usually fall in love with my characters and the life they are living. So I find it almost impossible to keep my novels under the 100,000 mark even with clear and diligent editing as I write and editing... Show more

I guess I am in the right place at the right moment with the right people after reading all your insightful comments. They are all enlightening. But I wonder what this 100,000 words limit really means to other writers. To me, there can be no limit to a true writer's imaginative... Show more

So well said, Sakpongba! I don't think I can add anything to what you so eloquently said above. There is no limit to true creativity, and it is sometimes sad to have to end a story just to fit in with some commercial medium. I hope your own work is so successful.

I guess I have found the right group alright. Like Marion, I have so much to say when I write that I just have to allow those who enjoy long tomes to know everyone of my thoughts.
I always find myself asking questions, being left wondering and frustrated when a writer had not... Show more
