MATERIALS:

½ oz. Fingering Yarn 3 ply white

Small amount of 2 contrasting colors for stripes

1 pair knitting needles No. 2

GAUGE: 15 sts. = 2 inch.

BACK:

With white and No. 2 needles cast on 22 (26) sts. and work in ribbing K 2, P 2 for 1 row, break off white, attach navy and work 1 row K 2, P 2, break off navy. Attach white K 2, P 2 for 1 row, break off white. Attach red K 2, P 2 for 1 row, break off red. Attach white and change to stock. st. With 22 (26) sts., work even until the entire piece measures 2 ¼ (3) inch. Put a marker on each end of needle to mark armhole. Work even for 1 inch above marker. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 2 rows 6 (7) sts., rem. 10 (12) sts. work in ribbing K 2, P 2 for 1 row. Break off white, attach navy and work 1 row K 2, P 2, break off navy. Attach white K 2, P 2 for 1 row, break off white. Attach red K 2, P 2 for 1 row, break off red. Attach white K 2, P 2 for 1 row. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P.

FRONT:

Work as Back until the entire piece measures 1 ¾ (2 ¼) inch. Shape V neck: Work across 11 (13) sts. only, slip rem. 11 (13) sts. to a holder to be worked later. Decr. 1 st. at center edge every other row until 6 (7) sts. are left over, at the same time when piece measures as long as back to armhole, put marker at beg. of row to mark armhole. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder 6 (7) sts. Slip sts. from holder back to needle, connect yarn and finish this side of neck to correspond.

SLEEVE:

Sew up shoulder seam and pick up 16 (18) sts. between markers. Work in stock. st. for 19 (23) rows. Work in ribbing K 2, P 2 for 1 row. Break off white, attach red and work 1 row K 2, P 2, break off red. Attach white K 2, P 2 for 1 row, break off white. Attach navy K 2, P 2 for 1 row, break off navy. Attach white K 2, P 2 for 1 row. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND:

Right side facing you with white pick up and K 31 (33) sts. around V neck. Break off white, attach navy and work 1 row K 2, P 2, decr. 1 st. before and
