I think the Harry Potter series should become classics in the future. The story is wonderful and appeals to all ages.

Also, The Time Travelers Wife is a GREAT book that deserves to be read by everyone. It's well written and an amazing story.

What books do you think should become a classic?

It is great to write about " The Great Books" - they are classical, aren´t they?

I think anything by Paolo Coelho and Toni Morrison should be classics. I also think the book "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns" would be great candidates for the canon of great classic literature. The themes portrayed in both of those novels will be able to... Show more

One of my favourites is the Mezzotint by M.R. James

The story centres around a man given the job of painting an abbey, as he does so, he spots a mysterious man at various windows.

Another favourite is by J. Sheridan Le Fanu about the Dutch painter Schlaken, who came back from... Show more

" Megan Brewer "
Very lively written and so understandable for not a native speaker like me. As a German I am reading now a novel, written by Elisabeth George, she is so professionel, but she has used hundreds of unknown words. " In The Presence Of The Enemy". Difficult! 636 pages
by the way; it's hard work to pick up. But back to Your story: I like too to write in a form
of a diary. ( "Neuropa" means " New Europa ") It gives... Show more

The challenge is that I read the entire classic "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy. Each time that I've tried before, I barely made any progress before giving up. This time, I'm going for it, Do you think I can do this? I'm already on Chapter Ten, the furthest I've ever gotten. Do you think that this time, I can finish reading this? I'm only a seventh grader and I'm reading one of the hardest books to read.

I read the trilogy first, and then went back to Bilbo's adventure. I loved, loved, loved all four.

That was back in the '60s, when anything unusual like this book was considered cool. I adored the story, and then discovered the trilogy and devoured that, too. Then I read The Silmarillion, which gives the history and such of Middle Earth.

I haven't had the chance to begin reading it, but I got the entire series at Books a Million a few days ago.

What is " The Hobbit " in a general way of speaking? Isn´t he a prehistoric or better prearchaic person described by a modern writer like Tolkien? A pure fantasy-figure- story as a whole? But "classic" doesn´t it mean ancient,The Great Work...? What do You think about?
