Welcome to bookrix. I love your profile pic, I'm a big cat lover.

I was surprised at your very brief response to my story 'Hollywood Classics' - terrible punctuation, desperately in need of editing.

I provide feedback all the time when reading others books and there are times I notice editing and punctuation issues. When I point them out I show the person what I mean and then tell them what I believe is the correct way. I also use sources to back up my statements like: Elements of Style by Strunk and White, or The little green grammar book by Mark Treddinick, or the Australian Style Manual.

Writing is so important to me I want to learn all the time. So please, can you point out to me the exact areas of poor punctuation so that I may assess it with your view and update.

I am in a editing course as we speak. It is part of my writing course and I'm still learning.

If I find time I will go back to your story & point out some examples. The biggest thing is use of the semi-colon. If I remember correctly, and I wasn't counting, I think it was only used correctly once or twice in the whole piece, which did not detract from the story. Some people find it helpful to read aloud, pausing or putting emphasis as punctuated, and will then find the awkwardness created by misused punctuation.
