I really liked this, you are very accurate with evidence to support your reason why guns are so dangerous, there have to be more people like you who write this kind of stuff to help people realize how dangerous guns are. I have heard too many stories on the news, in the paper, and out in public about people being shot with a gun, more people must speak up about this.

As I'm sitting here reading your essay, there has been yet another big shooting in another city in America. We are a violent country because the laws have not been tough enough and the laws we have are not enforced. Too many loopholes and millions have taken advantage of it. Personally, I think the argument that passing new gun laws will do no good is baloney. We have to begin somewhere. We are a violent country and we're getting worse by the day. The shooting in CT changed me forever.

I'm happy to comment on the piece that you have presented, and this I do. It needs to be reviewed and edited. Not great writing from someone who publishes a weekly magazine. Don't ignore good writing in the haste to get the story on paper.
The argument is good, and the subject matter current and contentious, so it deserves to be aired. I would have enjoyed reading an objective piece that looks at both arguments.

Before 'but' you need a comma. You also repeat the word 'dead'. You end one sentence with it and start a new line saying 'dead'. Try to change the sentence structure and find a different word.

"in your community and and in you state." Drop one 'and' and fix the typo to 'your'.

I'm not American, so I won't go into gun control per se. Here we have laws on guns, but we still get the occasional shooting murder. I don't like that it's so easy to find guns, but most of the time it depends on the human race. Well, everything good or bad is because of people. It's how things are in this world.

I fully believe in freedom of speech and you have every right to voice your opinion, as do I. I was raised in a small town in Oklahoma. My dad was a hunter, not only for the sport but to put meat in our freezer. I was raised around guns and taught how to handle them or not handle them. My dad was very careful to keep his guns in a locked gun safe. He no longer hunts but shoots on a competition team (he is 79). For years he gave his time twice a year to teach a young hunters safety class and also taught a self defense gun class for women, which of course I took. I have no ill feelings toward you in the difference of opinion between us. As I said I take all of our right to freedom of speech seriously.

I have gotten into way too many verbal fights on the topic of guns... There is work needed on the piece, but overall it's good.
