Jim Cummings, or The Great Adams Express Robbery, by Frank Pinkerton, was originally published in 1887 as part of The Pinkerton Detective Series. The story relates how a robber, assuming the identity of the famous outlaw Jim Cummings, robs the Adams Express rail shipment of $100,000, and how William Pinkerton, son of the famous Allan Pinkerton, who began the infamous Pinkerton Detective Agency, supervised the team of Pinkerton Detectives who went to extraordinary means to identify and capture the three robbers, and recover most of the stolen money.
